- IV therapy is not just for celebrities. Prime IV Sioux Falls sees tow truck drivers, construction workers, moms after school drop off, athletes and business travelers.
- Melissa Reno says oral supplements absorb at roughly 10 to 20 percent, injections up to 80 percent, and an IV up to 100 percent because it goes straight into the vein.
- Every bag is compounded on site in a laminar flow hood under USP 797 rules. Nutrients are never added to a bag hanging on the pole in front of you.
- Prime IV caps each bag at three added nutrients, and three per syringe. More is not always better.
- Only registered nurses, nurse practitioners and physicians start IVs at Prime IV. In South Dakota, an elective IV spa cannot use paramedics, EMTs or LPNs for this.
- A health intake comes first. Some medications and supplements rule out certain nutrients, and the nurses screen for that.
- Melissa's first Myers cocktail gave her a headache. Her bag was rebuilt around high dose vitamin C, and that combination worked for her.
- A full liter usually drips in about an hour. Nutrients stay in the system for about 14 days, so members come every other week or once a month.
- Whole body cryotherapy goes down to minus 166 for one to three minutes. Right after an IV, it pushes blood flow to the vital organs.
- Hangover drips are only about 10 percent of what Prime IV does. Prescription add ons like Toradol and Zofran need a telehealth visit with the medical director.
- An IV does not replace eating well and drinking water. It helps fill the gaps.
- A 500 cc introductory half bag starts at $85. The Glow Getter, a full liter plus a quarter bag, is $215.
- Prime IV does not bill insurance or provide superbills, but HSA cards work for single visits and memberships.
- Consults are free, walk ins are welcome, and Prime IV Sioux Falls is the only Prime IV location in South Dakota.
Is IV therapy worth it?
Melissa Reno, co-owner of Prime IV Sioux Falls, says it is worth it for people who want hydration and nutrients their body can use right away. An IV absorbs far better than a pill, each bag is built for your goals, and regular visits keep your levels up. It works best alongside eating well and drinking water.
Is an IV better than taking oral vitamins?
Melissa Reno says oral supplements pass through the digestive tract and absorb at roughly 10 to 20 percent, less if your gut is out of balance. Injections reach up to 80 percent. An IV goes straight into the vein for up to 100 percent absorption, and the dose can be adjusted for each person.
What is a Myers cocktail?
A Myers cocktail is a well known IV blend of B vitamins and other nutrients used to support detox and calm inflammation. Melissa Reno got a headache after her first one because her body was not ready to detox. Prime IV rebuilt her bag around high dose vitamin C instead.
How many nutrients can go in one IV bag?
At Prime IV Sioux Falls, the safety protocol is up to three added nutrients per bag and three per syringe. Some nutrients cannot be mixed, and glutathione is pushed separately at the end. The nurses skip anything you already take at home, like B12 shots or a B12 supplement.
Who puts in the IV at Prime IV Sioux Falls?
Only licensed registered nurses, nurse practitioners and, when available, physicians. South Dakota does not allow an elective IV spa like Prime IV to use paramedics, EMTs or LPNs for this work. Many of the nurses also work at local hospitals and clinics, so they start IVs regularly.
How much does IV therapy cost in Sioux Falls?
At Prime IV Sioux Falls, a 500 cc introductory half bag starts at $85. The Glow Getter, a full liter plus a quarter bag, is $215. Add ons like NAD injections and cryotherapy cost extra. Memberships give the most value, and HSA cards are accepted.
Does insurance cover IV therapy?
Prime IV Sioux Falls does not bill insurance companies or provide superbills. People can pay for a single visit or a monthly membership with an HSA card. Consults are free, so you can come in, ask questions and complete a health intake before deciding.
How long does an IV last and how often should you go?
A full liter usually drips in about an hour, or around 45 minutes for people with larger veins. Melissa Reno says the nutrients stay in your system for about 14 days. Members often come every other week or once a month. She found every three weeks worked best for her.
Melissa Reno co-owns Prime IV Hydration & Wellness in Sioux Falls with her husband, Jody. They also opened two Nekter Juice Bar locations in Sioux Falls. Melissa is a birth doula and works with expecting and postpartum moms.
Her family went looking for better ways to feel well after years of health challenges, including her own Hashimoto's. Jody researched IV therapy, met the Prime IV founder in Colorado Springs, and the couple opened three storefronts in five months. Safety was Melissa's first question, and the protocols she heard are why they said yes.
Prime IV Sioux Falls offers custom IV therapy, injections, NAD+, peptides, whole body cryotherapy, massage chairs and concierge IVs at homes, meetings and events. Every bag is compounded on site, and every IV is started by a registered nurse or nurse practitioner. Nurse Lauren joins at the end of the episode to break down the Skinny Mermaid drip.

[0:00] Many times IV therapy gets sold as a luxury, but what walks through the door here is everyday people. Today, I'm at Prime IV Hydration and Wellness here in Sioux Falls, with one of the owners, Melissa Reno, and her nurse is here too.
[0:15] She's hooked me up to an IV, and we're going to talk a little bit about IV therapy, all the things they do here. It's definitely more than just IV therapy. I've been learning all about that. What's in the bag? You know, what what kinds of Compounds we can get in the bag, what it does for you, what it costs.
[0:32] We're going to talk about all of that today on Dialed In Health. Health and wellness is confusing. There's a new trend every week. Everyone's got an opinion, and it's hard to tell what's real versus what's good marketing. This is Dialed In Health, and I'm your host, Melissa Goodwin. Every episode, we sit down with real providers doing the work and ask them the questions you would ask if you were sitting in this chair.
[0:52] Let's get dialed in.
[0:58] Welcome to the show. Thank you. We're excited. So glad to have you here. This is exciting. So, I was kind of blown away when I came in here because I was expecting kind of their standard run-of-the-mill, you know, sit down in a comfy chair and get a drip. But you guys have quite a bit of offerings here.
[1:13] You've got cryotherapy. Yes, full body electric. Yep. Yeah, so you do some peptide therapy. You've got some amazing massage chairs that we're going to take a look at here soon. Tell us a little bit about, and you're also serial entrepreneurs, so you've got a nectar juice bar next door.
[1:29] Sure. And you do some other health and wellness things. So tell us a little bit about your journey. What made you excited and and feeling like prime IV was missing from Sioux Falls? Tell us a little bit about that. Absolutely. Well, our family has experienced some different health conditions in the past.
[1:49] With my son, with myself, with Hashimoto's, and we spent a lot of money trying to help me feel better over the years. I wouldn't say anything really helped, and so we just kind of keep looking for the next thing, talking to the next person, just weighing our options.
[2:07] And my husband, he spent many years in the corporate world, and he also spent time as a CEO of an international supplement company who had moved their souf their headquarters from California to Falls. So we had a lot of experience with franchises, in general, and with just our different health experience we've had, we were looking for ways to not only support our family's health journey, but along the way, when we started learning more about the different business opportunities, it was like, hey, we can not only help our family, but we can help others doing these as well.
[2:39] So that kind of became more of our passion rather than just like. being you know entrepreneurs that just kind of came along with it. It was like the benefit of helping others. So whenever we were introduced to nectar, that was what we started with first nectar juice bar and we were able to open two locations here in Sioux Falls.
[2:58] First one's in the state of South Dakota. So that's the healthy eating aspect, right? Being careful with what we put in our body. And then my husband found prime IV. He started deep diving IV therapy. It's not. Something that either one of us elective IV therapy we'd really done on a regular basis.
[3:14] Really, it was more procedures, surgeries, those types of things where IVs were necessary. And so, the more he deep dived it, he thought, you know, I think this is gonna well help me. Honestly, that's what he that's the mindset he was going for. And then he ended up calling the CEO and founder of Prime IV and chatting with them, and set up a meeting in Colorado Springs, where the headquarters for Prime IV is.
[3:36] And then he came to me and was like, "Hey, I found this opportunity. I think it's going to help you. I've done a lot of research and I really think that we need to go meet the founder and CEO." I'm like, "Oh, okay, sure." He's like, "No, really, I have a meeting set up. We're going in two weeks to Colorado Springs." I'm like, "Oh okay." So then that's how that started.
[3:57] Like we were already started with the nectar. I'm like, "That's a lot at once." We opened three storefront locations in five months. Oh wow. Like Just insanity, right? That's wild. Insanity, but along the way, we are Christ followers, and one of the things that we did along the way was pray a lot.
[4:15] Yeah, we prayed a lot. It's very much a part of what we do and the decisions that we make with businesses, with family, and we kept praying. You know, God, if this is not what you want us to do, please make it very clear. Close the doors. He just kept opening doors.
[4:31] And so we just kept walking through the doors. Yeah. And then here we are. And so we went and chatted and asked a lot of questions. One of the big things for me with Prime IV, with anything that we do and anything we enter into, I wanted to make sure that it was something that wholeheartedly I knew we were helping people, not harming people.
[4:49] And with my limited experience previously with elective IV infusions, that was a question I had. Yeah. And I just flat out asked it. To the CEO, and she was like, "I'm glad you asked. These are all of the safety protocols that we have in place," and she just went through everything, and then we walked out of there going, "Okay, like we're in.
[5:06] Like we feel like this is something that we could benefit from with our health and that the community could use." So tell me a little bit, especially since your husband was an executive for a supplement company. Sure. What's the difference of getting an IV versus you know.
[5:22] A nectar juice bar drinking drinking an amazing juice that's good for you versus taking a supplement. Sure. So something that you're going to consume orally that's going to go through your digestive tract has to get absorbed via that digestive tract. A lot of us have imbalance in our gut.
[5:38] Maybe you've heard the term leaky gut. Some different things that could cause our body to not be able to absorb those nutrients as well as we wish it would. So you're going to get from let's say an oral supplement that your body has to break down. 10 to 20 percent absorption of that, and you're not able to customize the dosage for that.
[5:57] So, if you're just going to a local store, you're getting the same dose as someone else is getting, and you're really not sure what you're actually absorbing. With an IV, you're entering the vein, it's intravenous, so you are getting up to 100 percent absorption. Even with injections that we offer here, that would be up to 80 percent absorption.
[6:15] So that's even better than something you're going to consume orally that has to go through that digestive tract. So you said that this was something that your husband Jody thought would help you. Correct. When you had your first infusion, what did you feel? Sure. So my very first infusion was the Myers cocktail.
[6:32] So many people have heard of the Myers cocktail. Tell us what it is for those that haven't. Sure. So it's something that can help the body detox and it just kind of like an overarching with the combination of nutrients that are in it. I usually let our nurses go through like breakdown piece by piece but just the general like High level, it it helps with detoxing.
[6:49] It it's just an overarching helps with inflammation. You're getting all those extra B vitamins that you need. For me, with my very first infusion, I felt awful. I am not going to lie. Oh no, I know I felt awful. That was not what I was expecting you to say. No, I know. I'm not gonna lie.
[7:05] That's an example of someone that I I don't detox well. Okay. At the time, I didn't realize that. What does that even mean? Yeah, so it means flushing out the different toxins and free radicals in your body. Okay. And so with Hashimoto's, that's something that can be pretty common, at least from my experience.
[7:21] And so I don't detox well. And so it was the Meyer's cocktail was working and it was doing exactly what it needed to do, but my body wasn't ready to handle it. Okay. And some people experience that. So my first one, not a great experience. The good thing is, is that we can go back to the drawing book and we can customize.
[7:41] We compound on site in our compound room. Okay, so we have access to so many different vitamins, nutrients, antioxidants, so we can we can play with it. We can pick and choose. We can adjust the dosage. We have you know our max dose that we don't exceed, but there are certain things that we can play with.
[7:58] We can customize it to each person. So then what I found that worked best for me was a high dose vitamin C infusion. Okay, yeah. So tell me the compounding piece. How is that different than a traditional IV? Like you know there's And I I know Ivy they get a little bit of of a bad rap because it was like the hangover thing, like the hangover truck that would show up and give you an IV.
[8:20] Tell us how this approach and the compounding is different than than that maybe you know the the portable IV truck that rolls up in Vegas. Sure, sure, absolutely. So we actually do concierge too, so I can even walk you through what we do for that because it does look a little different when you're off site.
[8:36] Okay. But yeah so we have a compound room with a laminar flow hood so we Follow 797 safety compliance. So what that means is that all of our compounding must happen in our flow hood in an aseptic environment. And you know our our nurse Lauren can share with you we're only allowed to put so many nutrients in a bag, so many nutrients together in a syringe on your syringe pump.
[8:57] There are certain nutrients that shouldn't be mixed together. All those types of things. If we're going to so you won't you won't see our nurse hang your IV bag on your IV pole and then introduce the nutrients, vitamins, antioxidants. Directly into your bag in front of you. That is not the safety protocol that we follow here.
[9:14] Now, let's say we're doing concierge, we're doing offsite, which we've done. We go to people's homes, we'll go to just meetings and we'll just hook them all up and they'll drip while they're having a meeting. I had someone that reached out wants to come to their book club and let them get IVs while they do their book club. But that we would talk to them in advance, review their health over the phone to go through that health intake and health needs and goals to make sure we're getting the right fit.
[9:37] And then our Team would compound the IV bag in the compound room in the flow hood before we leave, and it has to be administered within four hours of when we compound it. Okay, so what am I getting today? What what's the yellow stuff in there?
[9:53] Sure, that's a B complex. Okay, yeah, so I would let Lauren, that's her job, our nurse, our NP, to go over that with you. Okay, that is their role. That is not my role, since I am not a licensed medical professional. Okay. But there's a bunch of stuff in there that's gonna make me feel better. Yeah, you got some great things. You got the skinny mermaid today.
[10:10] Okay. So all of our drips have fun names. Yeah. That just kind of help guide you know what the goal of it is. Maybe it's the gladiator. Maybe it's the champion. Maybe it's the glow getter. Okay. We have one called the afterburn in case you're out in the sun a little too long and need some extra vitamin C to help your body heal from the inside out.
[10:26] Oh, interesting. I didn't know. You'll have to tell me more about that. I didn't know you could do that. So I have aloe vera on top of the skin, but. So vitamin C inside helps with the sunburn. Cool. I didn't know that. Yeah. Tell me a little bit about who walks through your doors.
[10:41] What what kinds of people come through? Sure. Because sometimes you think about IV therapy and it feels like something that oh if I have time, you know, or if I if maybe if I was just you know stayed at home all you know all day I could go get an IV. Tell me who comes through here. Sure. All walks of life.
[10:57] Which is what I love about it. Sometimes I like to call it the blue collar spa. We definitely have those that come from more affluent backgrounds, and then we have those that are making sacrifices in their daily life to be able to get a membership because they understand the value.
[11:14] They come once, they meet our team, they get to experience how they feel rehydrated, rejuvenated. They leave here feeling like a million dollars. They sit in the massage chairs and relax with their chilled eye mask. That one hour self-care vacation. That everyone needs. Yeah.
[11:29] We need to take care of ourselves so we can take care of others. They do that and they experience it and they see the value and so they're they're willing to to sacrifice some things in their life to be able to get that six month membership. So tell me a little, you know, for those that maybe might be curious, what might be some reasons that you would get an IV?
[11:51] Young, old, yeah, all the different reasons you might pop in here. Sure, absolutely. Yes we do see about 10% for the the after party hangover situation. Yes we even have some that will they'll prepare their body before they're going to a bachelor party going on a cruise. Oh yeah.
[12:06] So they'll come and and get the body ready because they know they might be enjoying some different things on the cruise or wherever the party. So we do have that that's about 10% of what we do. And then the other option someone like me with Hashimoto's looking to help reduce inflammation. We have those that maybe need an immunity infusion.
[12:22] We have a lot of CEOs and business owners that do. Come here, so they're traveling, meeting a lot of people, coming in contact with a lot of people, being on airplanes. So when they know they've got a big business trip or even coming back from a business trip, they'll take advantage that way. So we have those that help with travel, jet lag. We have those for the glow getter is a great example, just to help with with skin and and clearing up free radicals and improving collagen.
[12:44] So there's really just you you name it and we can pretty much help you come up with a combination to meet your needs and goals. So you've you said you've had folks even say like I'm going to skip my nails so I can come and get the IVs. Yes. Yes. So tell tell me some of the stories that have surprised you.
[13:00] I mean some of the great feedback that we've had. One of our founding members was able to come off several of her medications, not by our recommendation, just by going to get her different lab work done and and doing her checkups with her medical provider, and them just seeing how how Her health has improved and what her numbers look like on her labs and able to just pull her off those and say, "What are you doing?" And she said, "I just go to prime IV.
[13:27] I go get my IV twice a twice a month and that's what I do every other week. It's my my time before I go pick up the grandkids and do my thing." And he's like, "Please don't stop. Please keep doing that." And then he was able to share with others, all other patients, and send them here. You know we we I'm a birth doula as well and so we do work with mamas who are expecting.
[13:46] We work with Postpartum and so we work with some of those different providers in town and I mean it's just it's been fun to to walk alongside people and you we mentioned immunity immunity boosting with traveling we've had oh gosh there's just so many even people that that come in that are trying to change lifestyle yeah maybe fighting addictions that have been able to use like our NAD services to help curb those addiction cravings To help make some lifestyle changes with that, so it really just we can kind of help with with any type of need that you're you're dealing with.
[14:24] Yeah, all kinds of things from young to old and yes, athletes too. Oh absolutely with the athletes we we our cryotherapy chamber has has definitely been a blessing for our athletes as well. We have a lot of stampede players that will come use our services.
[14:40] I mentioned You know college basketball teams will come and use our services as well before meets we have a current NIL with a a college a local quarterback and so we do have an NIL established with him and so he gets services and then is able to share about it on social media and yeah you know just kind of fun so tell me why would a college basketball team come in like what what's what's the reasoning there what what are they thinking yeah sure so they came in after a Summit League win and they they just called and said hey we want to do something fun for the kids we're gonna be it's gonna be a long weekend you know hopefully we keep winning yeah and we just want to make sure that they're ready to go and that they recover quickly and their system's the boost that they need they're hydrated and they use a cryotherapy chamber to help with that muscle recovery and reduce inflammation and it was fun we just had young men everywhere I mean it was like these just it was great so the cryotherapy tell me how that's a complement to the to the IVs and what Like I'm excited to to show people what that like that I was surprised by that.
[15:42] It's a giant thing. It is. It is. It takes up a whole room. Yeah. So tell us about that. What is it doing? How is it helping? And how is it helping you? It is a cryo-built Everest unit. So it is designed for one person to be in there at a time and it is electric.
[15:58] So you do step your entire body into it. You can get all the way down to minus 166. There are three different settings you can choose from, but that's the coldest it will go. And then you're in there anywhere from one to three minutes. You choose your your setting and you choose your time. And you do want to get down to your undergarments.
[16:15] The more skin you have exposed, the better. Ideally, we would do it right after an injection. We would do it right after an IV. That way, you're getting all of those nutrients rushed to your vital organs so that they get absorbed even faster. It's essentially putting your body into a state of fight or flight. So it's ramping everything up in your body so that everything is rear-in to go and ready to go.
[16:34] But you don't have to necessarily do it in that order. I mean, you could just come in. We have a lot of athletes that come in after a game just for that muscle recovery and injury recovery. Okay, so you said it gets down to 160. Minus 160. Minus 160. And you don't have clothes on?
[16:50] You're down to your undergarments. Okay, that sounds terrible. Sure. Now you do want to protect smaller bodies body parts. So we do put gloves on. We do want to make sure our feet, our shoes, slippers. We have you wear your own. You could use ours. And then we want to put a mask on to cover our nose and keep us from breathing that cold air directly into our lungs and then we wear a headband to protect our ears.
[17:11] Want to make sure that all metals removed. You know and just like elective IV infusions it's it may not be a great fit for everyone depending on certain health conditions. Same thing with the cryotherapy chamber so there is a pretty in-depth you know intake form involved in that as well. We check all vitals before we don't want anyone who's doesn't have optimal blood pressure.
[17:31] Sure. Step into a giant freezer. Yeah. So those are all the things and then it goes into medical charts. I mean it's all documented and and then we can keep track of like what you did last time. What are we trying to achieve? What do we want to do this time? So it's kind of fun. So the science is like you get an IV and it's right into your bloodstream and then you get into a cryotherapy and and it's forcing because it's the cold is making you con your body constrict or your extremities what the blood flow can alter.
[17:58] flow to your vital organs. It's going right to your vital. So all of that IV goes into your vital organs. Okay. All those nutrients, antioxidants are going right to where they need to be to get used optimally. Do you use the cryo chamber by itself at all? Oh, absolutely. Oh, okay. Yep, we have. What if you get in there and you. What if you get in there and you?
[18:13] Migraines and so people will come in if they feel a migraine coming on and they'll use it. Okay, what if you get in there and you freak out? So the good thing is we have. I made I had one gal that made it 10 seconds and that's okay. She just felt like it was a tiny space. it's fully lit up you can see through the glass and the door does not lock so you just come right on out but yes on occasion we do have people or or we even have the opposite we do have people too that are like I can only do that you know 60 seconds and then they end up going three minutes okay they're like oh that wasn't as bad as I thought and it's kind of fun because you're all frosty and it snows on you and it's just a really neat experience that is wild that is super wild I'm excited to yeah just to see that so tell me you know front door You know, what happens when you walk in the front door?
[18:57] Tell me a little bit about the experience. Sure, so you'll be greeted probably by my husband. He's been the one that's been our greeter here at Prime IV. So or one of the nurses, whoever's you know available at the welcome desk. So they're going to welcome you in and then we're going to just make sure that we have a health intake completed.
[19:13] If not, then we'll get you an iPad and get you going on that health intake. We do have walk-ins. We can certainly take walk-ins. Otherwise, appointments being booked online or call or text. So there's Variety of ways for convenience that you can you can come in here and then we do have snacks available we have some Pure Inventions water drops for extra hydration available that's something that people can purchase and take at home to help in between make sure we're drinking enough water and getting our electrolytes in between IV therapy since we're not able to do that every day and then we're going to give you a tour we're going to show you around so you know where everything is and know everything that we have to offer and You get to see the cryo chamber.
[19:48] You'll see our consult rooms. You'll get to see our massage chairs where the restroom is. You know, you're getting a full liter of fluids. Chances are when you're done, you'll have to go to the restroom. That's just how it is. It means your body's working and using what it needs to use. Yeah. So yeah, it's just a full full experience and we always have our spa music going to help set the ambiance and just get you ready to relax.
[20:10] So you I'm going to take you back to when you said the first time you did an IV drip. It felt bad. I did. So what did you do going forward? How did you fix, you know, what was whatever was happening? Absolutely. So when I say I felt bad, I got a headache. Okay.
[20:25] So that's how I know that my body is not detoxing well. Okay. Is I got a headache. Now with the other infusions, no headache. But I came back the next time I got an IV, I was two weeks later, chatted with what our team member that was helping me, and I said, "Hey, this is how I felt after the Myers cocktail." I didn't really care for it.
[20:43] Let's break it down and see what we think might have been the cause of the headache. And so we broke it down and so they we just decided let's with your inflammation, let's try a high dose vitamin C. So we did that and then I still get B vitamins.
[20:58] I like to do lysine so that helps with your body managing that stress response. Yeah. If I know I've got an event where I'm going to be you know talking to a lot of people and I just need that extra energy boost, I'll get some pure taurine. With that taurine with the way the form that we have there's no crash afterwards.
[21:13] Okay. So it's just a nice steady energy boost. Let's see if it's at the end of the day and I haven't been sleeping well then I'll have them add in a little magnesium. So you can each visit you can customize. That's amazing. So by changing up the combination after that I felt amazing with my inflammation with my Hashimoto's I mean there are days where I couldn't even like make a fist.
[21:37] It hurt so bad. There were days that my clothes on my skin hurt. Oh. Like that was just how severe it was that my poor husband. I'm like, please don't hug me. It hurts so bad. And that was just what I dealt with for years. But then once we started that high dose vitamin C within minutes, I was like, like I could literally feel my body relax because I wasn't holding all the tension from the discomfort that I'd been experiencing all day long.
[22:03] Yeah. Or weeks, and then, I started getting the infusions every three weeks was what I found worked best for me, and then I was able to just crush life. That's amazing. It was like, what can I get you know done? And the research shows that the when you're getting in a full liter intravenous with the nutrients you're getting, you should see them in your system for about 14 days.
[22:26] So, but of course, day one versus day 14, there's gonna be less in your system because your body has used a lot of it. So We do have memberships where people will come every other week to get their infusion or some people will come once a month.
[22:41] It really depends on their needs and their goals and just what they feel best with. Yeah. So what about the the folks out there that maybe they drink their water, take a multivitamin? Sure. Do they need an IV? Well, if they're like, I don't think I need that, I'm good. Oh sure. I mean everyone's lifestyle looks different.
[22:58] Everyone's needs are different. They might find that they overdid it you know sitting out in the sun all day at a baseball game and they could just use some extra hydration and and extra vitamin C to help their body heal from the inside out help with that sunburn they could find that they're just run down and even though they're getting their water and they're eating pretty well maybe they just can't seem to catch up maybe their bucket is empty that's how I like to refer to it and that's how I think of it is we are such a go go go society We don't take a lot of time to stop and take care of ourselves, and those that do, it's incredible.
[23:34] Like I need to be one of those people. As you mentioned, the whole serial entrepreneurial thing, there's not a lot of downtime. So forcing myself to come, take an hour, get a drip, sit in a massage chair is exactly what I didn't know I needed it until I did it.
[23:49] Yeah. So if you are an entrepreneur or a business owner or an executive or a mom or pretty much anybody who's busy, yeah, we have moms that drop the kiddos off at School yeah and then they come here so they're our 9 o'clock appointment. Okay. They drop the kids off at 8:30 at school and then here they are taking care of themselves so they're ready for whatever else the day brings.
[24:06] So you have a little energy absolutely for when the kiddos come home. So for for folks who are who are not sure if it's worth the money, they're driving by and they're like, "What exactly is that place about? What would you want them to know?" Sure. So I would encourage just come in and ask.
[24:23] Like come visit us. Let us show you around. Our consults are complimentary. So we just want a lot of it's just education because it is new. I mean there are a few other infusion spas in the area. We're all a little different. We all have our own little specialties and you know we have the massage chairs, some of those fun things.
[24:42] But yeah we would we would love to chat with you and share with you and you know if if you want to we'll do the health intake and just that way we have a little better look and a little more in-depth look at your your health history. and and then we'll just go from there really until you try it and again that first one you know it may not be your favorite so don't give up after the first one no no the great thing and then why why we recommend the membership is a you get more value for what you're getting for money wise but also consistency is key i mentioned for me i think of it as an empty bucket you you're not going to refill your bucket To optimal levels with one infusion, you're just not.
[25:22] You're gonna get that nice boost, that that quick energy hydration to go get done what you need to get done. But really, to get that bucket full, you're gonna need a few more infusions. So, ideally, it would be you know once a month, maybe two times a month, depending on your lifestyle.
[25:38] So, I I think we all have different opinions on what value means to us. It's just where you want to spend your money. Yeah, for somebody who's really nervous, sure, that does not like needles, how how do you help them feel at ease?
[25:53] Sure. So for us, anytime I walk into a facility like this, even if it's not mine, the first thing for me is going to be safety. Sure. Like what are the safety protocols that they have in place? You know we already shared about some of our 797 safety protocols with how we handle the nutrients and the compounding.
[26:10] And as far as their staff, like who's going to be starting my IV. We only employ licensed registered nurses, NPs, and if we have that opportunity, an MD. I am not able in the state of South Dakota to employ paramedics, EMTs, or even LPNs.
[26:28] Their skill set is made for different settings, not for an elective IV infusion spa setting. So you know that you're getting someone who has been well trained, and even. Someone that will be a part of our team is someone who is has been regularly starting IVs, whether it's been at another clinic, whether it's been at a hospital setting, just depending on you know what what their experience is.
[26:54] And some of them are with us full time and some of us are with us part time and during the other hours of the day they'll be working at a local hospital, local clinic, still keeping their skills up and serving people in other ways. So, how much for those that are curious, how much does coming in for an hour cost?
[27:13] What does that look like, and how do people budget for that? Absolutely. So I mentioned we we love when people are interested in the membership option, and that's where you're going to get the most value for what we have to offer. But someone coming in wanting to try it for the first time, maybe they're limited on time and they they only have 30 minutes.
[27:32] We can even do a half bag. We can do 500 cc's. So what you're getting is a full liter. Okay. So that usually drips in about an hour for most people. Someone with larger veins it might drip in 45 minutes. It just kind of depends. But you're looking at anywhere from $85 for that introductory half bag.
[27:49] As something that's one of our most popular infusions would be the Glow Getter. So that actually it comes with a full liter and another quarter bag. So you're getting a little extra hydration. That would be 215. and really you know if you want to add on NAD injections you want to add on the cryo chamber so it's really you can add on other fun things too to make it an even more enjoyable experience but that's kind of the basic range that you're looking at okay and insurance do you take insurance what does that look like sure we do not we are able to utilize HSA to pay for services people either they'll pay for their one-time service or they'll pay for their membership their monthly membership is able to process off an HSA card, but no, we don't work with superbills or work with insurance companies.
[28:31] Okay, I'm going to read a few statements and you can tell me what you think about these. Sure. Okay, IV therapy is a luxury for celebrities and influencers. Sure, I would disagree. I mean, I I've shared that we have people from all walks of life coming in.
[28:47] I mean, I've got tow truck drivers. I've got I mean, construction workers. I've got everybody that that you can think of that comes in here that just wants to support their health. This is a great way to support their health, and it doesn't matter what you do for a living. We could all look better, feel better, and perform better.
[29:02] Absolutely. All right. If you drink enough water, an IV does nothing. Sure. I was also disagree. Our our IV infusions, you could get just straight saline, you know, just some electrolytes. But you also have the opportunity to add other vitamins, micronutrients, antioxidants that are going to support your body in other ways to help it function better.
[29:23] More vitamins in the bag is always better. Sure. So we do have a safety protocol where we will only put up to three nutrients in a bag. So that's one of our things that we do here. But no, I mean more is not always better. What are you trying to achieve? I don't want you to receive something that you don't need at the time.
[29:42] Based off what you communicated and your health goals and your health needs and if you are already doing self-injections of B12 we don't need B12 on your bag. If you're already taking a B12 supplement we don't need B12 on Let's find something else that supports your needs and meets your goals that you're not already doing at home. Okay, anyone can walk in and get any drip they want.
[30:01] Sure, unfortunately not true. Okay, there are safety protocols in place. It's called a contraindication, so there might be a particular medication or supplement that you're already taking that would not allow us to put a certain pharmaceutical in your bag.
[30:18] It just Is what it is. We want to make sure that we keep you safe, keep everyone that walks through the door safe. So our nurses have that knowledge and they have access to the knowledge to make sure that you're getting what your body needs and not getting what your body doesn't need.
[30:33] Yeah, and we talked about this one a little bit. Sure. IV therapy is a hangover cure. Sure. The golf course IV. Sure. Sure. We do get some of that. We yeah we did share a little bit about that. About 10% of our services. I mean it it we offer it.
[30:50] It is what it is. We do carry Toradol and Zofran as options as well as a particular infusion that we have. Those are prescriptions. They do require a telehealth with our medical director. And there are only certain situations where we would be allowed. We're not a pain management clinic, so we would not be able to do like injections of Toradol.
[31:08] It does have to be an IV bag. So we are able to support even those you know with migraines, even if it's not from hangover, we're able to support in those ways. Okay, that's good to know. You have to be sick to need an IV. Sure, it's a great benefit if you are not feeling well to come get an IV.
[31:25] Get that extra hydration, the vitamin C, the zinc. But no, you don't have to to be sick. And it's actually great to do on a consistent basis so that your system's already supported. Your buckets are already full so that when the kids start back to school, you're traveling, you're going to family Christmas parties, you know, whatever, going to the concert, your body's already ready to.
[31:45] To help give you that boost that you need for whatever you come across. Yeah, I love that, especially the immunity. What's in the immunity? Immunity armor. Yeah. So vitamin C, zinc. Lauren would be able to give you all of them. That's what they do on a day-to-day basis. Sure. But the big two, those are the big two.
[32:00] The the things that make you hopefully immune to getting more sick. Sure. All right. So an IV replaces eating well and drinking water. Sure. Nothing can replace those. I I get where people could think that yeah they're thinking oh I don't have to go eat oranges because I'm getting vitamin C in my drip our body still needs those things these are just a great way to help fill the gaps in case we're missing a few things in our diet yeah okay this one getting an IV hurts sure well do you feel like it hurts mine definitely did not sure and I think with our nurses and their skill sets I mean everyone has a different Different tolerance or opinion of what hurts.
[32:43] The reality is we're taking a sharp needle and we're puncturing the skin and we're entering a vein. So could there be some discomfort? Absolutely, that's just the reality of it. But our nurses are very skilled and they do this regularly. So, the goal is for it to not hurt.
[33:01] Yes, we want it to be a spa. Feeling and we want it to be a pleasurable experience. So they're they're not going to be flicking like some of the different things that you might find if you go get blood drawn and things that are kind of uncomfortable to try and help make sure it's it's a viable vein.
[33:18] We don't do those things. We have other ways that we help support the system and and we also give you tips and tricks before you come for your visit you know hydration make sure you eat those are all things that can make it an even better experience. Yeah. What's your favorite story of someone who's come in here, and you know it's this has really changed their life.
[33:40] Definitely the gal who was able to come off multiple medications, like that that one for me. She also has Hashimoto's. So to hear how she was feeling with a a similar health condition that I experienced and how this helped her feel the way she was feeling and she refers all kinds of people.
[33:58] So that's a testament to how much she enjoys it. Here and how it helps her feel. Trying to think there. I I love when the athletes come and to hear how they stopped. I have nothing against pickle juice.
[34:13] But some some of the athletes will drink pickle juice on the sidelines, especially on warmer days to help with cramping. They come here and then they can stop drinking the pickle juice and to hear their stories of how bad they were cramping and to not be cramping anymore.
[34:28] I mean, it's so cool to yeah to just hear and then you know people that come in with mono and they've been dealing with symptoms of mono does it cure their mono no but is it helping them to do life better while they're healing absolutely even with our weight loss peptides you know there's different opinions about weight loss peptides we have very strict protocols here with our simaglutide trizeptide that we offer We had one client that she was told that her blood pressure had crossed the threshold where she needed to go on medication.
[35:06] She did not want to do that, so it was recommended by her provider that if she could lose certain amount of weight, that it's possible that it could correct itself. Okay. So then she came to us with a certain goal in mind, and she was able to achieve it.
[35:22] And we did it nice and slow, so that there was no lean muscle mass that she experienced. And then she never had to go on the medication that was being recommended. I mean that was when she came back and told us, just that what her provider said, we were like really like we were so excited for her because we knew that she didn't want that.
[35:45] She wanted to find another way and this was able to help her. I love that story. Well, for for those that are curious where to find you, how to find you, and maybe hit the next door location for some some juice afterwards or before.
[36:03] Tell us how we can where where you're at, where you're located, and also online. Absolutely. So we are the Prime IV Sioux Falls location. So Instagram's Prime IV Sioux Falls. Same for Facebook. And then our website, when you go to primeivhydration.com, then you can choose locations and you'll be able to choose Sioux Falls.
[36:22] So we're actually the only one currently in the state of South Dakota, so should be pretty easy to find. Yeah, I love it. Sometimes Google Maps will take you to the daycare down the street, so just keep going a little further. Okay, got it. We've been trying to work on that. I love it. All right, we will make sure to include all of your links in the notes on YouTube.
[36:41] So if you're watching on YouTube, hit the description. You can click a link. to to find any of their locations or any of their social media links as well. Thank you so much. I'm excited to check out these massage chairs that you have. They are gorgeous and they are kind of like Star Trek looking.
[36:57] I love that. So we're going to definitely check those out here in a minute. Melissa, you and your husband Jody own Prime IV hydration and wellness as well as the nectar. Is it nectar juice bar? Nectar juice bar, thank you. Nectar juice bar right next door. So thanks again for being on the show.
[37:13] Sharing all this information about IVs and peptides and cryotherapy, we've learned a lot today. Thank you. Thanks for having us. Absolutely. Lauren, tell me what was what's in the drip that I'm getting. Yeah, so we start with you get a full liter of fluids.
[37:28] You can either do lactated ringers, which is going to give you a little bit more electrolytes, or normal saline, depending on what you are needing more of. And then we put three nutrients in the bag itself. So you got the skinny mermaid drip, which is great for a lot of different benefits, kind of like an overall one that our members love.
[37:50] You get the skin benefits from glowing skin. You do things in there for help your liver detox, immune system boost, energy boost. And so in your bag, you got a dose of it was vitamin C, magnesium, and B.
[38:08] Which is going to be a blend of different B vitamins. Okay. And then we put the rest of the nutrients in the syringe pump. So we just do three nutrients per syringe as well. And so in one syringe you got taurine and B6. So that's going to give you, well, you didn't get taurine.
[38:27] We did lysine and B6. Okay. So that is going to help block the stress response in your brain. Which I need. Yes, everyone loves the lysine. And then B6 is good for brain health as well. And then in another syringe there is B12, which is good for energy.
[38:47] Helps like increase the red blood cells in your body. Brings oxygen throughout your body. And then there's an amino acid blend, which is good for muscle recovery. And then biotin. So that's good for hair skin and nails. And so you get a blend of kind of an overall general wellness blend and then you also at the very end, which we will do, we push glutathione at the very end.
[39:14] It cannot mix with certain nutrients and it can only be mixed with a certain fluid. And so we follow that protocol and the glutathione is good for your skin. It's good. It's an antioxidant. So it'll help fight against many viruses and then also helps detoxify your liver.
[39:31] So it has multiple benefits. So you're back there making all of this in that what what the hood? A flow hood. A flow hood. Okay. So it has a special air purifier so it's the most sterile we can get to keep everything clean.
[39:48] Okay. When we're mixing our nutrients. And you customize that. So if I were to come in and say we just did an episode on MTHFR. If I I'm like, hey, I can only do methylated bees. Or hey, I can only, or I you know, I get to have a lot of stress and my skin and hair look like crap.
[40:05] Can you help me? You would help me kind of customize my bag. Yes, we can customize any bag. We can take out any nutrient and replace a nutrient. Okay. So it's kind of every bag we make per client. Okay. So everything is customizable. Very cool.
[40:20] What is the wildest? So what's what's your favorite? What do you love? I whenever I get a drip, I get the skinny mermaid. Okay. I've also done the glow getter. So the glow getter, you get a little extra bag of fluid if you're needing extra hydration. Yeah. As well as it has a couple added nutrients in there for immune support and then you get the lysine in that one as well.
[40:41] So did I go fast or slow or am I how am I doing? I would say you did pretty fast. Okay. Yeah. So does that mean I needed more water? So you need more water. You were a little maybe a little dehydrated. A little thirsty. Yeah. Okay. Good to know. What else should I know about? So I'm in this kind of wild like Star Trek pod here.
[40:59] What what's what what tell me about this machine that I'm in. So our massage chairs are one thing that our clients love. Yeah. I feel like everyone is like, oh yes, please the massage chairs. It's kind of just relaxation for your hour of your drip and you can just relax.
[41:19] We have multiple different settings you can choose from. There's preset settings and then you can also make it like customizable to do only like certain parts of your body. The chair also can like lean back, lean forward. There's heated, like you can add the heat option.
[41:36] Multiple different options. That's our show for today. If someone came to mind while you were listening, please send it to them. You never know when a little piece of information might change someone's life. Make sure to subscribe so you don't miss the next one as well. I'm Melissa Goodwin.
[41:52] Thank you so much for listening and for now the line is open.
